Urban Overheating Impact: A Case Study on Building Energy Performance

It is well known that the construction sector one of main sectors responsible for energy consumption in current global scenario. Thus, buildings’ software become essential tools achieving savings. Climate and its implications building performance are a critical threat. Hence, aim this study to evaluate climatic conditions urban suburban areas Rome, estimating incidence Urban Heat Island (UHI) phenomenon. To end, meteorological data obtained from three different (two airports inside city) were examined compared. Then, TRNSYS was used create simple building, order assess impacts various situations on performance. The revealed significant percentage differences both terms needs heating, −20.1% −24.9% when reference stations are, respectively, Fiumicino Ciampino, cooling, with wider range, +48.7% +87.5% Ciampino Fiumicino. Therefore, showed importance more accurately selecting sets climate values be included simulations.
